Ladies' Book Club

Between 3 or 4 times a year, Cindy recommends a book for us to read, giving us about 6 weeks to read the selection.  Although there is usually a spiritual theme, the books are not necessarily “Christian”.  We’ll meet to discuss the book over a pot luck dinner and lots of lively discussion always ensues.

Some of the books we've read include:
  • "The Shack",  "Crossroads" and "Eve"  by William Paul Young
  • "Eat-Love-Pray" by Elizabeth Gilbert
  • "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years" by David Miller
  • "Blue Jazz" by David Miller
  • "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant

Upcoming Dates for The Ladies Book Club

Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017
  6:00pm - 9:00pm

This time we are reading Tatoos on the Heart : The Power of Boundless Compassion by Gregory Boyle. Here's a little taste of what we're in for this time:

For twenty years, Gregory Boyle has run Homeboy Industries, a gang-intervention program located in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, the gang capital of the world. In Tattoos on the Heart, he distills his experience working in the ghetto into a breathtaking series of parables inspired by faith. Arranged by theme and filled with sparkling humor and glowing generosity, these essays offer a stirring look at how full our lives could be if we could find the joy in loving others and in being loved unconditionally.
